WE KNOW WHO WE ARE, NOT YET WHO WE WILL BE

Life is always changing, and we as people are always in a state of flux and change. Yesterday the sun was shining and today it is overcast and cloudy. As one day changes from sun rise to sunset, so we also are changing.
We are told that we are being changed from glory to glory in scripture.

'But we all with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord. 2 Cor. 3:10

Hopefully, we are maturing as people of God. Perhaps the things that annoyed us the other day, now no longer weigh upon us as much as they did before. Perhaps we care more about the hurting and the downtrodden. Maybe we’ve learned how to hold our tongues and not to retaliate in anger as someone insults us. It could be that our faith has been stretched immeasurably, as the car has broken down, you’ve missed work for the second day now, and a child is sick. In the past, maybe you would have just given up and thrown the towel in in despair. But now, you’ve learned to pace yourself through this fiery ordeal.

Every day we are faced with a myriad of different struggles and ordeals in this life. We can stomp our feet and yell and say that it’s not fair what we are going through. Or, we can simply just take it in stride and realize that these things come to all of us. The rain falls on the just and the unjust.

As the years go by, and the struggles have continued, in time we can look back and see how far we’ve come in this journey we call life. Perhaps as we look in the mirror we can then behold an inkling of our image as it is being changed from glory unto glory. And then the very face of Jesus can be seen in our compassion and mercy shone to others. The wisdom that He used in dealing with the Pharisees maybe is seen as we speak to others.

Then we begin to see this life of ours through His eyes. We grasp eternity in a grain of sand, and what lies behind us, is nothing in comparison to what is ahead.

And then finally at the end of our journeys, we’ll see Him face-to-face and hear Him say, “Well done, my good and faithful servant.”
